Home By ("we," "us") runs a small invite-only event series in Chicago. This policy describes what information we collect from you, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can get it deleted. We wrote it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email human@homeby.party.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to put you on a list and send you SMS about our events.
- Phone number — when you submit it through the form on homeby.party.
- First name and last initial — collected by our SMS assistant ("Lucy") during the signup conversation.
- Your SMS conversation with Lucy — we retain the content of text messages you exchange with us so Lucy can remember you, and so we have a record of your opt-in.
- Attribution — how you heard about us (e.g., Instagram, a friend). Collected in the SMS conversation.
- Ticket purchase info — if you buy a ticket, our payment processor Stripe collects your payment details directly (we never see your full card number). We receive your name, email (optional), the event purchased, and a transaction ID.
- Event attendance — if you check in at the door, we record that you attended.
How we use your information
- Confirm your signup and send you event details (location, timing, updates) via SMS.
- Let Lucy have coherent, personalized conversations with you over time.
- Process ticket purchases and issue you a QR code to show at the door.
- Improve the service and plan future events.
- Comply with legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the site and send messages. They only see what they need to do their job:
- Twilio — sends and receives your SMS.
- Airtable — stores your contact record and conversation history.
- Anthropic — powers Lucy's conversational replies (API-based; Anthropic does not train models on this data).
- Stripe — processes ticket payments.
- Netlify — hosts the website.
SMS messaging specifics
You consent to receive recurring automated SMS from Home By (HOMEBYHOSPITALITY) by checking the optional SMS opt-in checkbox on our sign-up form. Checking that box is not required to submit the form. SMS may include signup confirmation, event details and location, reminders, and follow-ups. Message frequency varies. Message & data rates may apply.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. You'll get one final confirmation text and then no more. For help, reply HELP or email human@homeby.party.
How long we keep your data
We keep your contact record and conversation history as long as you're on our list. If you opt out, we flag your record as opted-out and stop sending you messages, but we may retain the record itself so we don't accidentally re-contact you. You can ask us to delete your record entirely — see below.
Your rights
You can email human@homeby.party at any time to:
- See what information we have about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your record entirely.
- Stop receiving messages (or just reply STOP to any SMS).
If you're a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we've collected about you in the last 12 months and to opt out of any "sale" of that information (we don't sell it). Email us to exercise those rights.
Children
Home By is an adult event series and this site is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access-controlled service providers. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise zero risk — but we treat your data like we'd want ours treated.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes, we'll text you before they take effect.
